Artist Statement
As an artist, I believe in being present, bringing attention to the outline of my body, letting pleasure arise from movement, and knowing that I have the power of choice. Being present in the environment where I am moving, and noticing the influence, or the nothingness from my five senses. The edges of my body give information, as they are the conduit between the external and internal. Pausing is often needed to reset that awareness, and it is okay to pause. Pleasure isn’t defined in one way. There is movement that feels good; that’s physically pleasurable. Then, there is movement that is difficult or unfamiliar, and there’s pleasure in finding out why there is discomfort. There is the choice to remove it, research it, or drop it.
